Kiwi Brevet 2012

Hi there Folks, not only do I love the back country but have a passion for biking. This event combines the two back country and mountain biking. Thanks to my training manger at Outward Bound (David Mangnall) who put me onto this event a few years ago. So in just under 7 days on Feb 4th, I will take on the Kiwi brevet for the second time. This is a 1200 self-supported mountain bike event around the upper south island.  It has to be completed in 8 days so you do the maths!! This will be a huge personal challenge to me which I am so looking forward to. The other purpose is to help raise some money for the Whenua-iti Outdoor centre. I am hoping to raise a dollar a km........
Whenua Iti Outdoors is a registered charitable trust that has been operating since 1986. Our mission is to " encourage the holistic development of individuals through outdoor experiences."
100% of your donation to us will help sponsor a child on our Journey programme that runs in the school holidays. Our current funding only allows us to provide for 1/3 of the referrals we receive.
The focus of 'The Journey' is to provide fun, challenging outdoor group experiences that increase confidence, resilience and motivation amongst the young participants. Many of these young people would not easily be able to access this opportunity due to limited family resources.
